IDENTIFIKASI KARAKTER AGRONOMI DAN HASIL PERSILANGAN VARIETAS PADI INPAGO UNSOED 1 DENGAN INPARA 8
This research was conducted to identify the agronomic characteristics and to obtain F1 progeny from the crossing between Inpago Unsoed 1 and Inpara 8 rice varieties as parent plants. The progeny was expected to have dual tolerant traits due to submergence stress at vegetative phase and drought stress at generative phase. This research was carried out in the greenhouse of Agricultural Cultivation Department, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir from August to December 2020. Rice varieties used were Inpara 8 and Inpago Unsoed 1 as parent plants. This study used Randomized Block Design with three replications. The variables observed were plant height, tiller number per clump, panicle number per clump, spikelet number per panicle, spikelet number per clump, spikelet weight per panicle, spikelet fresh weight per clump, spikelet dry weight per clump, 1000 grains weight, empty grain percentage, flowering age, harvesting age, and plant dry weight. Analysis of variance and least significance different were used to evaluate the difference between varieties. Results showed that Inpago Unsoed 1 variety had relatively better agronomic characteristics than Inpara 8 variety based on harvesting age, tiller number per clump, panicle number per clump, spikelet fresh weight per clump, spikelet dry weight per clump and flowering age. Reciprocal crossing between Inpago Unsoed 1 (♀) and Inpara 8 (♂) resulted in higher percentage of resulted spikelet with 50.49% from total 608 crossed flowers and 307 of resulted spikelet number compared to the crossing of Inpara 8 (♀) and Inpago Unsoed 1 (♂) with 51.81% from total 552 crossed flowers and 286 resulted spikelet number.
