Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2018, the prevalence of electric smokers in the city of Palembang was 3.2%. This number can increase significantly due to the rapid development of e-cigarettes so that it can have an impact and health problems for adolescents. Therefore, this study aims to determine the factors that influence e-smoking behavior in Palembang youth so that effective prevention efforts can be carried out. This study used a cross sectional design with quantitative research methods. The sampling technique was cluster sampling with a total of 134 respondents of active electric smokers in the city of Palembang. The analysis of this study consisted of univariate analysis, bivariate with chi square statistical test, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression test. The results of this study showed that 32.8% of adolescents were categorized as heavy electric smokers. Several variables that influence e-smoking behavior in young people in Palembang are behavioral interest variables (p-value=0.000; PR=2.895; CI=1.697-4.936), intention (p-value=0.031; PR=1.549; CI=1.325-2.986). ), environmental constraints (p-value=0,014; PR=1,526; CI=1,847-2,689), and habits (p-value=0,008; PR=2,012; CI=1,229-3,295) while the variable that does not affect is the knowledge variable ( p-value = 0.177; PR = 0.656; CI = 0.579-0.744). The results of the multivariate analysis showed that the environmental constraint variables in terms of family, peer, and media aspects were the variables that most influenced e-smoking behavior (PR=4.506; CI=1.655-12.272), which means that respondents with high environmental constraints had 4.506 times more chance higher to become heavy electric smokers compared to respondents with low environmental constraints. Therefore, advocacy efforts and social support are needed to carry out targeted health promotions, both directly and by disseminating information through social media to young people in the city of Palembang.
