fulfill the primary health needs of all Indonesian people. The JKN membership in the Banyuasin district is still low and has not achieved Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The majority of Makarti Jaya District people work as farmers who have the potential to increase JKN membership from the informal sector. The purpose of this study aims to determine the factors that correspond to the JKN membership status of farmers in Makarti Jaya District, Banyuasin Regency. The type of this research is descriptive-analytic by using a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study amounted to 118 samples were selected by cluster random sampling method. The data analysis used Chi-Square. It shows that the status of participation in Makarti Jaya District farmers is 9.3% who have registered themselves as members in the national health insurance program. The variables that are related to the membership status of the National Health Insurance for Makarti Jaya Subdistrict farmers are variable of knowledge (p-value = 0.024), variable of income (p-value = 0.000), and variable of intention (p-value = 0.008). The variables that are not related are age, gender, education, number of family members, access to health services, social support, perception, and motivation. To increase the JKN membership status, BPJS Kesehatan needs to approach with directly come house-to-house. Local governments are suggested to hold training for agriculture to increase community income.
