Stunting accompanied by poverty inequality between provinces is the cause of developmental delays in children. The highest poverty is in Papua Province, while DKI Jakarta Province is in the lowest position. This study aims to analyze the relationship between stunting and the development of children aged 36-59 months in DKI Jakarta and Papua Provinces. This research used secondary data Indonesian Basic Health Survey 2018. Its used the cross-sectional with the multi-stage sampling technique. The sample in this study was all three children aged 36-59 who meets the inclusion criteria such as a single birth and answers all the research questions of 335 children in DKI Jakarta and 453 children in Papua Provinces. Bivariate analysis using Chi Square test and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression risk factor model. The results of of multivariate analysis showed no relationship between stunting with the development of children in DKI Jakarta Province (P-value = 0,468; 95% CI: 0,538-3,835) and there is a significant relationship between stunting with the development of children in Papua Province (PR = 3.078; 95% CI: 1.619-5,852) after controlled by age, sex, middle education, environmental sanitation and infectious disease . The results of this study are expected to be the basis for the DKI Provincial Government to improve access to sanitation especially on the problem of waste as well as get used to exchange the air in the houseand for the Papua Provincial Government to increase equitable access to health care especially the equalization immunization, education, and water management especially in villages with the lowest IPD as an effort to prevent developmental delays in children.
