This study aims to determine how the portrait of the lives of street children in the city of Palembang. This study uses a qualitative method. The qualitative method in this study was carried out on the subject of street children, totaling 5 people. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. The analysis technique used is data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the portrait of street children's lives in the city of Palembang on a daily basis, children cannot be separated from socializing on the streets, and not infrequently they are teenagers who drop out of school. Where internal factors include (family economy, heredity, and education) and external factors include (community environment) environmental factors that support. Economic difficulties experienced by the family will cause various problems, because it will create a family atmosphere that is not conducive so that ultimately the needs and rights of children are not met. In addition to the economic difficulties that cause street children to take to the streets, it is also caused by broken homes. Seeing their needs are not being met, children will look for ways to fulfill them, and the way they choose is to take to the streets.
