DETERMINAN GEJALA CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME (CTS) PADA PEKERJA PANDAI BESI DI DESA LIMBANG JAYA I KECAMATAN TANJUNG BATU KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR TAHUN 2021
ABSTRACT Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a disease caused by the presence of a carpal or cleft in the forearm until it begins. The narrowing occurs due to abnormalities in the small bones of the hand and then causes nerve pressure in the lower arm to the hand. The purpose of this study was to determine the symptoms of CTS in blacksmith workers by paying attention to individual factors and work factors. This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The sample was taken by simple random sampling design on blacksmith workers who found 82 people. The variables studied were CTS symptoms, age, nutritional status (BMI), disease history, years of work, repetitive movements, work postures and length of exposure. The data obtained were analyzed using statistic software application with chi square test and fisher exact test. The results of the study based on the Boston Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Quitioner (BCTQ) questionnaire, it was found that 69 people with CTS symptoms were 84.1% and 15.9% did not have CTS symptoms. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between CTS symptoms with age (p-value = 0.047), years of service (p-value = 0.006), repetitive movements (p-value = 0.004), work posture (p-value = 0.045), and length of time. exposure (p-value=0.002). There was no relationship between nutritional status (BMI) (p-value=0,206) and disease history (p-value=0,055). In conclusion, to avoid CTS, it is recommended to pay special attention to workers to stretch and use PPE according to standards. Keywords: Symptoms of CTS, Blacksmith, Repetitive movement.
