PENGARUH VISKOSITAS OLI PADA QUENCHING HASIL PENGELASAN SMAW TERHADAP KEKERASAN BAJA ST37
In the industrial world, heat treatment is a process that is often carried out and found in the manufacturing process, especially metal-based materials. Variation of cooling media is a factor that affects the hardness that will be obtained on a metal. One of the cooling media that is widely used in everyday life is oil, oil itself has a variety, and one of the differentiators from oil is its viscosity level. This study aims to determine how much influence the cooling medium used is varied based on viscosity. The viscosity of a liquid is one of the main things that affect the heat treatment process. This research uses a method experimental, which uses welding joints SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) of ST 37 steel which is quenched using variations in the viscosity of oil SAE 20,40,90. The results of the research that have been carried out show that viscosity variations will have a major effect on the hardness results obtained. The most significant viscosity variation in increasing the hardness level of a metal is the viscosity of oil SAE 40 with a percentage increase in hardness of 27.29%.
