DAMPAK PANDEMI COVID-19 TERHADAP EKONOMI KELUARGA PETANI KARET DI DESA KEPAYANG KECAMATAN LEMPUING KABUPATEN OGAN KOMERING ILIR
The purposes of this research are to (1) compare the production and income of rubber farmers in Kepayang Village before and during the COVID-19 pandemic (2) compare the welfare level of rubber farmers in Kepayang Village before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, (3) analyze the strategies of rubber farmers in Kepayang Village in due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was held in the village of Kepayang, Lempuing District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. Data were collected in January 2021. The method of this research was a survey method. The sampling method in this research used simple random sampling with sample of 40 rubber farmers from 236 total rubber farmers. The data processing method used paired sample t-test. The results showed that there was a difference in production before and during the COVID-19 pandemic up to 3,56% or 47,44 kg where production during the pandemic increased. Based on the results of the T test, it shows that the value of Sig. (2-tailed) is 0,000 ≤ 0,05. Therefore, it is concluded that reject Ho where there is a significant difference between production before the COVID-19 pandemic and during the COVID-19 pandemic. In terms of farmer’s income, it shows that there is a difference in income up to 16.53% or IDR 1,666,813/ha/6months where income has decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the results of the T test, it shows that the value of Sig. (2-tailed) is 0,000 ≤ 0,05. Therefore, it is concluded that reject Ho where there is a significant difference between income before the COVID-19 pandemic and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The level of welfare of farmers based on the standard of Decent Living Needs shows a decline where there are 6 farming families who are classified as decent before the COVID-19 pandemic became undecent. The coping strategies adopted by rubber farmers in the face of declining incomes are active strategies, passive strategies, and network strategies. The most effective strategy or classified as high score is a passive strategy where farming families control their consumption patterns (savings) especially on secondary needs.
