PENGARUH LAJU KOROSI PADA BESI COR YANG DIBERI PERLAKUAN QUENCHING MENGGUNAKAN VARIASI MEDIA PENDINGIN
in modern times like today, humans are increasingly spoiled with various tools that make work easeir. However, this iron based equipment often corrodes, resulting in losses both in terms of user safety and econimic value. Corrosion itself cannot be stopped but the corrosion rate can be inhibited by various techniques, one of which is the quenching method. This study aims to determine the effect of the corrosion rate that occurs in cast iron treated with quenching using several variations of cooling medium. This study uses an experimental method, which is based on the quenching treatment of cast iron. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant difference in cast iron specimens that have been treated with quenching using a variety of cooling medium in from of coconut water, palm oil, dan open air which have better corrosion resistance compared to specimens without any treatment, as evidenced with the percentage valeu of corrosion rate damage experienced by coconut water quench medium spesimens of 81,2%, palm oil quench medium 83,8%, opem air quench medium ( room temperature ) 85,9%, which is relatively lower than the value of the percentage of corrosion rate damage to the untreated specimens was 87,5%.
