This research aims to understand the process of land conversion and to examine factors that influence farmers to convert land and to compare the income between farmers converting and not converting land. in Mulia Sari Village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. This study used a survey method to include 40 sample from 400 farmers, consisting of 25 farmers who converted the land and 15 farmers who did not. Field data collection was conducted in Apil 2021. The sampling method used was the proportionate stratified random sampling. The data processing method used was binary logistic regression analysis and independent sample t-test. The results indicated that land conversion was carried out through 4 steps, namely 1) administrative, 2) survey, 3) verification, and 4) implementation. The factors that encourage farmers to carry out land conversion were education level, farming experience and number of dependents. The t-test indicated that the income of farmers who carried out land conversion was significantly greater than the income of farmers who did not.
