STUDI PEMANFAATAN RUMEN RUMINANSIA SEBAGAI BIOAKTIVATOR TERHADAP pH,RASIO C/N,POPULASI MIKROBA DAN SIFAT FISIK KOMPOS DARI PELEPAH KELAPA SAWIT
This study aimed to determine the quality of compost based on pH, C/N ratio, microbial population and physical properties of compost from oil palm fronds with the addition of ruminant’s rumen bioactivators (goat, cattle, and buffalo). The materials used in the study were oil palm fronds and ruminant animal’s rumen obtained from a slaughterhouse in Indralaya, South Sumatra. This research was conducted at the Compost House, Department of Land, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design with 2 treatments and 3 replications consisting of 5 bio-activator treatments B0 (without the addition of bioactivators), B1 (EM4 bioactivator), B2 (goat’s rumen bioactivator), B3 (cow’s rumen bioactivator), and B4 (buffalo’s rumen bioactivator) and 2 starter agent treatments, S1 (chicken manure), and S2 (NPK fertilizer). The parameters observed in the study were pH, C/N ratio, microbial population and physical properties (odor, particle size, moisture content, temperature and color). The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA and followed by a 5% Tukey’s HSD (Honestly Significant Difference) test if there were any significant differences. All compost parameters observed complied with Indonesian National Standard (abbreviated SNI) 19-7030-2004 and Decree of Minister of Agriculture Number 261 in 2019. The results showed that the administration of buffalo’s bioactivator and chicken manure starter agent gave effective results with pH (7.25), C/N ratio (14.15), number of microbes (7.14 x 105 cfu/g), temperature (33.48 ºC), moisture content (41.34%), color (10YR 2/1), odor (soil), particle size
