This study aims to determine the effect of the Experiential Learning model on the ability to write poetry text in grade VIII SMP Negeri 45 Palembang. This study used a pre-experimental design method, the research sample used one class or one group pretest-posttest design by taking class VIII.7 as a research class, totaling 30 students. Data collection techniques used tests and non-test writing skills and data processing using paired simple test and t-test with the SPSS 21 program. The results showed differences in the mean value at pretest and poststest. The pretest average results were 69.46. While the posttest results have an average value of 80.31. Hypothesis testing in this study useds a significance level of 95%. (α = 0.025 for two tails). The t-count value is -6.200 with a 2-tailed significant value of 0,000, the t-table value of df (0.025) = 2.069, the t-count 2.069> the t-table 0.000. Therefore Ho was rejected. H1 is accepted, which means that there is a significant difference in the initial test score and the last score, meaning that there is an influence on the Experiential Learning model on the ability to write poetry texts of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 45 Psalembang.
