Social media is often used to communicate by most people, including by the government, especially to carry out political campaign activities. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of political campaign activities carried out by members of the city DPRD through social media. This study is a quantitative study with the entire population of Talang Putri sub-district, Plaju sub-district, Palembang city, but only 99 samples were taken and the sample was determined using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 10 percent. The sampling technique used is incidental sampling, which is a sampling technique based on chance, ie anyone who coincidentally/incidentally meets a researcher can be used as a sample, if it is deemed that the person who happened to be met is suitable as a data source. Data collection techniques used are documentation and questionnaires. The data analysis technique in this study used a validity test and a reliability test with an error rate ( 5%) = 5%. The software used in this research is SPSS version 22.0. The results of the study can be concluded that the community using social media is very helpful in getting information about political parties through campaigns on social media so that political campaign activities through social media can be said to be effective.
