HUBUNGAN ANTARA USIA DENGAN AMBANG BATAS NYERI DAN TOLERANSI NYERI PADA TENAGA KESEHATAN DI RS DR. BRATANATA JAMBI
Background: Age, gender, and even psychological can affect a person's pain threshold and tolerance. The aim of the study was to determined the relationship between age for pain threshold and pain tolerance in health workers (nurses and midwives) at Dr. Bratanata Jambi Hospital. Method: A case series study has been conducted at Dr. Bratanata Hospital Jambi on December 2020. There was 88 samples who met the criteria of inclusion. The data was analysed using Statistical for the Social Science (SPSS) version 23. The instrument that used were Cold Pressor Test, Stopwatch and Visual Analogue Scale. Result: Among 88 subjects (age group 18-24 years 5 subjects, age group 25-44 years 74 subjects, and age group 45-58 years 9 subjects), there was no difference in pain intensity in each group. The average pain threshold time of the age group 18-24 years 6.6 seconds, in the age group 25-44 years 14.3 seconds, and in the age group 45-58 years 22.8 seconds (p= 0.001). The average pain tolerance time in the 18-24 year old age group was 20.6 seconds, in the 25-44 year group 32.9 seconds, and in the 45-58 year group 52.8 seconds (p=0.001). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship (r pain threshold= 0.694, r pain tolerance= 0.424) between age and pain tolerance threshold in health workers at Dr. Bratanata Jambi Hospital (p=0.001).
