HUBUNGAN KUALITAS TIDUR DAN SIKLUS MENSTRUASI PADA MAHASISWI TINGKAT AKHIR FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
Background: Menstruation is a process of desquamation of the uterine lining that occurs every month in women. The normal menstrual cycle in women ranges from 21-35 days. The menstrual cycle can be influenced by several factors, one of which is sleep quality. Poor sleep quality are common in graduate student who was in the process of preparation of the thesis. This study aims to determine the relationship between sleep quality and the menstrual cycle in final year students of the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University. Method: This study was observational analytic research with cross-sectional study design with a total of 117 subjects. The data used are the results of filling out the menstrual cycle questionnaire and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed by using the chi-square test. Result: The results of this study showed that from 117 research subjects, there were 52.1% of female students who experienced poor sleep quality, and as many as 29.9% of students experienced abnormal menstrual cycles. Obtained p value = 0.002 with an odd ratio value of 3.879. Analysis using Chi-square shows that sleep quality has a significant relationship with the menstrual cycle. Conclusion: There is a relationship between sleep quality and menstrual cycle in final year female students of the Faculty of Medicine University of Sriwijaya.
