This study aims to determine the role of the Damanik clan association as a kinship system of the overseas Bataknese people in maintain the existence of the Simalungun Bataknese marriage custom in Palembang City. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, the social situation in this study is the Damanik clan association as the actors studied, the role as a kinship system of the indigenous Batak tribe in maintain the existence of the Simalungun Bataknese marriage custom in Palembang City is an activity studied, and the association the Damanik clan of Palembang City is the place under study. The subjects in this study were three informants. This study uses two indicators, namely the role of regulator and facilitator. Data collection was carried out by interviewing, documentation and observation techniques. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that there are two roles of the Damanik clan association as a kinship system of the indigenous Bataknese tribe in maintain the existence of the Simalungun Bataknese marriage custom in Palembang City, the first is as a regulator, namely making and establishing rules and guidelines as a kinship system in maintaining its existence. The traditional Bataknese Simalungun marriage in Palembang City, the second role as a facilitator is to facilitate association members in carrying out and maintaining the existence of the Simalungun Bataknese marriage custom in Palembang City.
