RESPONS TANAMAN KUCAI (ALLIUM SCHOENOPRASUM) TERHADAP CEKAMAN KEKERINGAN
This research was aimed to evaluate growth of chinese chives (Allium schoenoprasum) against drought stress. The research was started from April 2020 to September 2020 in Jakabaring (104°46'44" E; 3°01'35" S), Palembang, South Sumatera. Randomized Block Design was used, while ANOVA and t-test were utilized for data analysis. Drought stress in vegetative phase and flowering initiation was carried out for 14 days and 7 days, respectively, based on soil moisture data measured daily during treatment. The t-test results showed that droughts stress occurred both in the vegetative phase and during flowering initiation phase had no noticeable effect on plant growth parameters during drought treatments period. Even after recovery, the results showed that drought treatment had insignificant effect in almost all observed variables of Chinese chives, except highest leaf length (14 weeks after transplanting), total leaf area (15 weeks after transplanting), leaf greenness level (15 weeks after transplanting). Based on the results, Chinese chives is then considered to have a high tolerance against drought stress and have a relatively rapid recovery phase so that they can be cultivated on dry land.
