PENGARUH METODE COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOSITION (CICR) TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MEMAHAMI TEKS BERITA PADA SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 1 INDRALAYA
This study aims to determine the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method on the ability to understand news texts in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya. The research method used is a quasi-experimental method. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely class VIII.2 totaling 32 students as the experimental class, treated using the CIRC method and class VIII.1 totaling 32 students as the control class who received treatment using conventional methods. Data collection using test techniques and data processing using t-test calculations with t he SPSS 25 program. The results showed that there were differences in test results between the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class got an average value of 54.88 in the initial test and the control class 48.69. Meanwhile, the average value of the final test for the experimental class was 76.28 and the control class was 70.03. The results of the calculation with the t-test show the value of t-count> t-Tabel = 2.876> 2.388 with df = 62 = 2.388 at the 95% success rate (α = 0.025), meaning that there is a significant difference between the two sample groups, the success achieved by the class experiment is more significant than the control class. Thus, the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning method affects the ability to understand news texts in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya.
