The objective of this research was aimed to identify effect of paclobutrazol on bud initiation during storage and effect on early growth of ganyong (Canna edulis Ker.). This research was conducted from January to April 2020 at Tanah Mas Village, Banyuasin, South Sumatra. This research was arranged based on a Randomized with Block Design with different paclobutrazol concentration levels of 0 ppm (P0), 250 ppm (P1), 500 ppm (P2), 750 ppm (P3), and 1000 ppm (P4) as treatmens. Result indicated that 750 ppm paclobutrazol was adequate to suppress bud initiation during storage and no negative difreg on the growth of early treatment rhizome, on this treatment the plants where direct observ to growth well with plant height was 34 cm, total leaf was 3,8 leaf, fresh rhizome weight was 55,3 g, dry rhizome weight was 17,7 g, fresh shoot weight was 121,0 g, and dry shoot weight was 25 g, besides that the rizome looks enlarged but no new rhizome shoots appeared.
