The aimed of this study to determine whether there is any significant relationship between the HEXACO personality traits and the speaking ability of 6th-semester English-Education students of Sriwijaya University and the writer wanted to know whether the personality traits can act as significant predictors of the speaking ability of 6th-semester English-Education students of Sriwijaya University. The number of the sample was 73 students from the English Education Study Program of Faculty of Teacher Training and the research method of this study was using a quantitative research method. HEXACO–60 questionnaire was used in this study and a speaking test was conducted to measure student’s speaking ability. Then, the data were analyzed using Pearson Product-Moment Correlation and the regression in SPSS 25. From the result of correlation, the correlation between total HEXACO personality and speaking ability = 0.134 and sig value = 0,258, meant that there was no correlation between total HEXACO personality and speaking ability. Futhermore, the writer found there was the correlation between openness and total speaking ability. The Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient between Openness and speaking ability = 0.234 and the sig value =0.046, which meant there was a correlation between openness and speaking ability. The writer also found there was no relationship between openness and speaking ability. Then, the writer found the contribution of openness to speaking was 0.38 %. It meant that the openness variable gave variation to speaking. The regression coefficient value for openness was -0.120, with a significance value of 0. 103.
