This research examines the effect of career development on employee performance at the Regional Research and Development Agency of South Sumatra Province. The purpose of this study was to determine how the influence of career development in the employee performance at the Regional Research and Development Agency of South Sumatra Province. The sample used is the entire population of 72 employees to become the respondents. The method used in this research is data analysis techniques using simple linear regression analysis. The results of research based on testing indicate that career development has a significant effect on employee performance. To improve employee performance, it is suggested that employee self- development must be considered and adjusted to the ability of employees , so they are performance can be more effective and they can exceed targets and improve every year.
