KARAKTERISTIK MEMBRAN POLYETHERSULFONE (PES) DENGAN PENAMBAHAN TITANIUM DIOXIDE (TiO2) TERHADAP PENGUJIAN TARIK,STRUKTUR MIKRO, DAN KINERJA PENGOLAHAN AIR
The membrane is a layer formed of fine fibers used as a filter. In its development, a membrane with polymeric material is an attractive material and has great potential as a membrane for filtering contaminated water. In this research, tensile strength, membrane morphology, and water treatment performance were measured which were made in three variations of specimens with different compositions of 27.5wt%, 30wt%, and 32.5wt% mixtures of Polyethersulfone. The membrane is made using polymer Polyethersulfone granules and N, N-Dimethylformamide as a solvent, and Titanium Dioxide as an additive. The test results showed an increase in the tensile test value of 0.425 MPa for the composition of 27.5wt%, 0.545 MPa for the composition of 30wt%, and 0.757 MPa for the composition of 32.5wt%. For microstructure testing using a Scanning Electron Microscopy, the result is an increase in pore density in each membrane and the phenomenon of agglomeration which almost does not occur. As for the permeability of the membrane itself, the flux value of the concentration of PES @ TiO2 was 27.5wt%, namely 442,233 L / m2.h, 210,061 L / m2.h for a concentration of 30wt% and 77.4 L / m2.h for a concentration of 32.5wt%. The addition of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) into the Polyethersulfone (PES) membrane is a way to produce a membrane with even pores, reducing agglomeration to increase membrane strength.
