GAMBARAN TEKNIK MENYIKAT GIGI HORIZONTAL PADA PASIEN RSKGM SUMATERA SELATAN DENGAN RESESI GINGIVA
Background: Brushing teeth is one of the most common ways to maintain oral hygiene. The horizontal brushing technique is an easy technique to do. Properly tooth brushing will provide a healthy oral cavity. However, there are still many errors in tooth brushing that can even lead to gingival recession. The purpose of this study was to describe the horizontal tooth brushing technique in South Sumatra RSKGM patients with gingival recession. Method: This research is a descriptive survey using medical record data and online questionnaires. Subjects involved in this study were 264 subjects who had met the inclusion criteria. The questionnaire contains 20 questions to describe the horizontal tooth brushing technique. Medical record data to determine the gingival recession status of each subject used the Miller classification. Results: The percentage of class I gingival recession is the greatest of class II, III, and IV recession with brushing in horizontal motion. The young adult age group was the research subject who experienced the most class I gingival recession. Conclusion: Almost all patients with gingival recession used the horizontal motion toothbrush technique.
