HUBUNGAN ANTARA OTITIS MEDIA SUPURATIF KRONIK DAN GANGGUAN PENDENGARAN DI RSUP DR MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 1 JANUARI – 31 DESEMBER 2019
Background. The prevalence of chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) in Indonesia is 5.4%. CSOM can cause complications such as hearing impairment. This study aims to determine the relationship between chronic suppurative otitis media and hearing impairment in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Hospital in the period of 1 January - 31 December 2019. Methods. This is an observational analytic study with cross-sectional design, conducted in July-December 2020. The sample is all patients with Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media in the ENT-HN department of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital in the period of 1 January - 31 December 2019 and was recorded in the medical record installation, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, with a sample size of 50 ears. Data were taken from medical records and processed using SPSS. Results. The results showed that from 56 samples, 80.40% had tubotympanic type of CSOM and 19.60% had atticoantral type. The largest age group was 26 - 35 years (30.40%), followed by 16-25 years (25%), 36 - 45 years (17.90%), 45 - 55 years (16.10%), ≤ 16 years (8.90%), and 56 - 65 years (1.8%). The degree of hearing impairment experienced was mild (25%), moderate (25%), severe (25%), very severe, 21.4%, and without hearing impairment (3.6%). The type of hearing loss experienced by the sample was conductive hearing loss (64.3%) and sensorineural hearing loss (35.7%). There was a significant relationship between the type of chronic suppurative otitis media and the degree of hearing impairment, and there was a significant relationship between the type of chronic suppurative otitis media and the type of hearing impairment. Conclusion. There was a significant relationship between the type of chronic suppurative otitis media and the degree of hearing impairment, and there was a significant relationship between the type of chronic suppurative otitis media and the type of hearing impairment.
