PENGARUH CAMPURAN BOTTOM ASH PABRIK KERTAS PADA TANAH LEMPUNG EKSPANSIF TERHADAP NILAI CBR TANAH RENDAMAN
Expansive clay is a type of soil with low bearing capacity, low shear strength, and high swelling-shrinkage. The area around Niru Tebat Agung Village, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra has expansive soil type that requires soil improvement effort. One of the methods is using chemical stabilization by adding bottom ash from paper mill waste. Bottom ash was chosen because it contains positive ions including SiO, Al, Fe, K, Na, Ca, which are needed to bind to particles in clay so that CBR and swelling values are better. In this study, the waste is from PT Tanjung Enim Lestari Pulp and Paper. The addition of bottom ash used was 10%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35% with curing period of 0 day, 3 days, and 7 days to test the physical properties of the soil, proctor standard, and the California Bearing Ratio with immersion method. The results of the CBR value of immersing soil for expansive clay soil with the addition of bottom ash have increased to the optimum limit occurs in the addition of a mixture of 30% variation with 7 days curing period of 8.66%, then the CBR development value has decreased in every addition of bottom ash at variation 10% to 35%. For the results of changes that occur in the CBR value of immersing soil that has been added with bottom ash, it has increased to the optimum limit at the percentage variation of 30% of 88.67% with a curing period of 7 days.
