LAPORAN PROFESI KEPERAWATAN KOMPREHENSIF PENGARUH METODE PERAWATAN TOPIKAL ASI TERHADAP LAMA PELEPASAN TALI PUSAT : SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Background: Neonatal deaths due to infection accounted for 57.1% of the many neonatal mortality rates in Indonesia, including umbilical cord infections tetanus neonaturum by 9.5%. Umbilical cord infections can be prevented by good umbilical cord care, one of them is human breastmilk topical methods. Several research articles show that the human breastmilk topical method helps umbilical cord separated quickly, thereby reducing the incidence of infection. Aim: this systematic review was conducted to know the effect of human breastmilk topical treatment methods on umbilical cord separation Methods: Qualitative research with a systemaric review uses content analysis and a search method uses an electronic database consisting of NCBI PubMed, Google Scholar, and Science Direct. Inclusion criterias for this systematic review are research papers, focus on the effect of human breastmilk topical treatment methods on umbilical cord separation that can be accessed full text by 2010-2020. Results: Research on the effect of breastmilk topical treatment methods on the length of umbilical cord separation have been done in several countries. Eleven research articles were reviewed, the results of a systematic review showed that the topical treatment method was effective in accelerating the release of the umbilical cord compared with other umbilical cord treatment methods. Discussion: Breast milk contains high protein levels which play a role in damaged cells repairing process and helps the healing process of the wound than it helps to accelarated the time of umbilical cord release. Breastmilk topical treatments can also decreased infection signs in the umbilical cord, its because the bacterial colonization of the umbilical cord that is treated using topical breastmilk methods is less than other treatments. Conclusions: Breastmilk topical method is an effective umbilical cord treatment in accelerating umbilical cord separation. Umbilical cord care using breastmilk is a safe, comfortable, feasible, cost-effective and non-invasive therapy that can be used as a nursing intervention for newborn care.
