PENGARUH DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT EDUCATION TERHADAP PERAWATAN MANDIRI PASIEN DIABETES MELLITUS SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Background: DM management independently and continuously contained in DSME, is part of health education that not only involves knowledge and skills, but also psychological counseling if needed to facilitate lifestyle. Purpose: this systematic review aims to determine the effect of diabetes self-management education in patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods: Qualitative research with a systematic review approach using content analysis with a search method using an electronic data base consisting of PubMed, science direct and Google Scholar. Inclusion criteria: a research journal focusing on diabetes self-management education to address problems in patients with diabetes mellitus that can be accessed full text by 2014-2020. Results: Research on diabetes self-management education to overcome problems in patients with diabetes mellitus has been conducted in several countries with different methods. The systematic review results found that non-pharmacological measures to overcome problems that occur in people with diabetes mellitus in the form of diabetes self-management education can be applied by nurses in dealing with nursing problems that arise in patients. Components taught through DSME include, among others, patients are taught to recognize what diabetes mellitus is, causes, risk factors, signs and symptoms, foot care, diet management, blood sugar control, insulin use, physical activity and exercise, stress management for effective coping . Conclusions and recommendations: effective nonpharmacological measures to overcome problems that occur in people with diabetes mellitus in the form of diabetes self-management education can be applied by nurses in overcoming nursing problems that arise in patients including self care, lowering blood sugar levels, has an effect in managing risks the occurrence of diabetic ulcers and treatment of diabetic foot ulcers.
