The objectives of this study are: 1) Describing the general condition of people who live under poverty in Kelurahan Kemang Agung Kecamatan Kertapati Palembang city related with the current status of food vulnerability. 2) Detecting the food vulnerability in Kecamatan Kertapati Palembang city based on the indicators of Food Security and Vulnerability Atlas (FSVA) and be compared with the result form primary data. 3) Knowing and understanding the kind of strategies could be implemented in preventing and handling food vulnerability in Kelurahan Kemang Agung Kecamatan Kertapati Palembang city. This research was conducted in Kecamatan Kertapati Palembang city on March-April 2020. Site selection of research was done intentionally based on the consideration of food vulnerability indicators. The research method used the survey method with interview activity. The sampling method used purposive sampling method with 45 samples of people live under poverty. The results of this study indicate that the condition of people who live under poverty in Kelurahan Kemang Agung Kecamatan Kertapati Palembang city according to aspects of food supply and food fulfillment show a good condition yet there are still some points of living aspect needs to be improved such as sanitation and education, the condition of food vulnerability in Kecamatan Kertapati Palembang city is at the good level of priority 5 yet still needs to be improved on morbidity rate, and the priority strategy in preventing and handling the food vulnerability in Kecamatan Kertapati Palembang city based on SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis is SO (strengths-opportunities strategy or aggressive strategy).
