The objectives of this study are: 1) What are the characteristics of small rice millers in Musi Banyuasin and Banyuasin Districts, 2) What factors influence the variation in production and income of small rice millers in Musi Banyuasin and Banyuasin Districts, 3) How big is the contribution? a byproduct of the income of small rice millers in Musi Banyuasin and Banyuasin Regencies. This research was conducted in August 2019. The method used in this study was a survey method, the sampling method in this study was the purposive sampling method. The data collected in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. Primary data obtained from observations and direct interviews with farmers based on the questions that have been provided. The results of this study are 1) The owners of small rice mill businesses in the districts of Musi Banyuasin and Banyuasian are mostly (67%) classified into the productive group, the education level of the owners is high (83%) most of the business owners are able to complete their education up to high school level, experience in an average business of 8.6 years, the average number of family members is 5 people, and the majority of ownership status (60%) is self-owned. 2) The factors that significantly influence the variation in income of small rice millers are production output, selling price, buying price and working partners, while the by-product production factors and labor have no significant effect. 3) The byproduct income of the small rice mill in Musi Banyuasin and Banyuasin Regencies only contributed 8% to total revenue, while 92% was still dominated by rice production income. This is because the average small rice mill business owner does not know the target market for product sales.
