The mining system implemented is the Surface Mining System with the Stripe Mine method. Mining activities carried out are still using conventional mining methods by using a combination of Load Excavators (Hydraulic Excavators) and Dump Trucks. Coal mining usually has a system of processing in the form of size reducing machines, such as crushers. It aims to meet consumer demand in accordance with the requirements demanded. Crushing coal will be sent to the stockpile located in Kertapati, Palembang, South Sumatra. Coal shipments are carried out using the Logistics Train. Coal will be stacked before being sold to consumers. Coal stockpile in the stockpile has GAR 5500 Calories with a density value of 0.9452 tons / m3. Barges are used to deliver coal to consumers. Barge loading in one shipment ranges from 7000-8000 tons. However, PT Muara Alam Sejahtera often experiences coal losses at the Kertapati Stockpile, South Sumatra. This can cause losses for PT Muara Alam Sejahtera. In general, the tolerance level of coal losses is ± 20,000 tons per stock taking. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze losses (coal loss) from coal shipments to shipments to consumers in the Kertapati Stockpile, South Sumatra. This is intended so that the company does not experience losses due to coal losses. So PT Muara Alam Sejahtera can find out the cause of coal losses
