EKSTRAKSI SiO2 DARI AMPAS TEBU MENGGUNAKAN METODE HIDROTERMAL DAN METODE KALSINASI
Research on SiO2 extraction has been done from sugarcane bagasse using hydrothermal methods with variation NaOH concentration of 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0 M and calcination methods with temperature variation of 800, 900 and 1000ºC. Characterization of SiO2 extracted carriedovt using XRD analysis, FT-IR, and silica surface area calculation using the methylene blue adsorption method. The results of characterization using XRD showed that SiO2 was extracted by the appearance of a typical diffraction angle SiO2 at an angle of 2θ = 21-30. Extracted SiO2 has an amorphous phase at temperature 800ºC and SiO2 extracted by calcination method at temperature variation of 900º and 1000ºC which has a crystalline phase. The FT-IR spectrum showed that SiO2 by vibration of asymmetric stretching of Si-O from siloxane (Si-O-Si) at wave number 1067-1022 cm-1 and bending vibrations of siloxane groups (Si-O-Si) at wave number 597-501 cm-1. The surface area calculation using the methylene blue adsorption method showed that the largest surface area in the hydrothermal method was obtained at 2.0 M NaOH concentration with value at 16.0940 m2/g and calcination method it was obtained at temperature 800C with value 15.8422 m2/g. Based on the results, the best method used is the hydrothermal method with a variation of the higher NaOH 2.0 M.
