KARAKTERISASI KOMPOSIT HA/Sio2 BERPORI DENGAN SPACE HOLDER KACANG HIJAU
Hydroxyapatite is a ceramic that has several advantages, including having properties similar to bone in humans, and can be used as a catalyst, materials such as cow bone are easy to obtain, as well as silica and green beans. The purpose of making hydroxyapatite made from beef bone is intended to reduce waste from cow bones and be used as a catalyst. Hydroxyapatite composite using powder metallurgy method using raw materials in the form of beef bone which has been calcined at a temperature of 900℃ and also silica powder (Si) and green beans which have been oven as space holder in the manufacture of porous hydroxyaptite. The powder size used was 200 mesh or 0.074 mm. The manufacturing process involves calcination using an electric furnace, grinding, sifting, mixing using ballmilling, compression using a compacting tool with a pressure of 2000 Psi for 10 minutes per specimen, and sintering with temperatures of 1100℃ and 1200℃. The tests carried out include density testing, which aims to determine the amount of porosity contained in porous 80% HA / 20% Si composites, from, X-ray diffraction testing aims to characterize the phases formed in the composite, compressive strength testing aims to see the properties mechanics of each specimen, testing scanning electron microscopy to observe the microstructure and shape of the pores that are formed. In the density test, it was found that the average porosity increased with the increase in sintering temperature carried out in this study. Whereas for X-ray diffraction testing, there are 3 types of phases, namely the hydroxyapatite phase, the β-TCP phase and the silica phase which are reinforced on the composite, then for testing the compressive strength the higher the sintering temperature the greater the value of the compressive strength in this study, as well as for testing the compressive strength. Observation of pore shape and size using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was carried out at 2 points with a magnification of 500x to 2000x, there were various shapes and sizes, from 4,510 μm to 67.32 μm. Keywords: Hydroxyapatite, Si , Mung Beans, compression test, density test, SEM, and XRD.
