PENGARUH TEMPERATUR MEDIA PENDINGIN PADA PENGELASAN SMAW TERHADAP NILAI KEKERASAN DAN PERUBAHAN STRUKTUR MIKRO BAJA KARBON RENDAH
Welding is the process of joining two or more steels with or without stress. This research aimed to analyzed of effect of differences in the temperature of the cooling medium used in the cooling process of SMAW welded low carbon steel on hardness value and microstructure changes. The cooling medium used was SAE 5W 40 oil with different temperature , namely 70°C, 80°C, 100°C. This research was conducted using a welding process on low carbon steel and cooled with oil media with different temperature then doing the microstructure observations to see the effect of different in microstructure changes and vickers hardness testing with a load of 20 kgf. Researchers used oil cooling media without being noticed, and room temperature as comparison, so that through this study different results were obtained, namely the hardness value of non-media specimens 108,494 VHN, oil without limitation 107,189 VHN, oil 70°C 111,791 VHN, oil 80°C 111,497 VHN, oil 100°C 107,176 VHN, and microstructure changes in 3 (three) welding areas, namely base metal results in a rare ferrite and pearlite grain structure, HAZ produces a dense grain structure of ferrite and pearlite, weld metal produces grain structure acicular ferrite and pearlite which are smooth and dense
