HUBUNGAN KARAKTERISTIK RESPONDEN, DAYA BELI DAN MACAM SUKU DENGAN POLA ASUH DALAM PEMBERIAN MPASI DI KOTA JAMBI
Complementary feeding of breast milk that is too early can cause the baby to have less appetite for breast milk. On the other hand, late complementary feeding can make it difficult for babies to receive complementary foods. The success of complementary feeding (MPASI) cannot be separated from the ethnic groups in a community. This study aims to analyze the relationship between respondent characteristics, purchasing power and ethnicity with parenting styles in providing complementary foods in Jambi City. This research method uses cross-sectional and observational research methods, a mixed method research parallel convergent between qualitative and quantitative research. This research was conducted in Jambi City in the 5 largest ethnic groups in Jambi, Java, Minangkabau, Batak, Palembang and Lampung with a total sample of 96 people. The results of quantitative research found that there was a significant relationship between education (p-value = 0,000) knowledge (p-value = 0.002) and OR 4,813 (1,857-12,469), ethnicity (p-value = 0,000) and OR 75,250 (18,680-303,136) , purchasing power (p-value = 0.012) and OR 3.156 (1.359-7.330) with parenting styles in providing complementary foods to infants aged 0-12 months. There is no significant relationship between work and parenting in providing complementary foods to infants aged 0-12 months (p-value = 0.474). The results of the qualitative analysis support the results obtained from the quantitative analysis in this study. Conclusion: Ethnic habits greatly influence the parenting style of providing complementary foods in Jambi City, especially in the Minangkabau and Batak / Medan tribes, there are still those who follow the pattern of early complementary feeding to infants aged 0-12 months in Jambi City.
