PEMANFAATAN LIMBAH KACA SEBAGAI FILLER DAN PENGARUHNYA TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK KOMPON KARET SOL SEPATU
A shoe sole rubber compound has been made using filler from glass waste. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of concentrate glass filler on the characteristics of rubber compound and determine the optimal concentration of glass filler for the manufacture of shoe sole rubber compound according to SNI 06-1884-1990 based on hardness test, tensile strength, elongation at break, and tear strength. The results showed of the hardness of rubber compound is increase while increasing the concentrate of glass filler but the tensile strength, elongation at break, and tear strength is decrease while increasing glass filler concentrate. Rubber compound with glass filler concentration of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 phr is suitable with the requirements of shoe sole standards according to SNI 06-1884-1990 based on tensile strength, elongation at break, and tear strength, but does not correctly suitable with the requirements on hardness test. Based on its function to improve the mechanical properties of rubber compound, glass is an inert filler type that only increases the compound hardness value and decreases other mechanical properties.
