HUBUNGAN KONSENTRASI NAOH TERHADAP MUTU SERAT KULIT DURIAN DAN KAITANNYA DENGAN MATA KULIAH KIMIA KAYU
Durian skin is the biggest part of durian which often ends up as a waste due to its sub-optimal utilization and also hard to be degraded. Research on the utilization of durian skin as raw material for textile fibers has been done. This study uses a laboratory experimental method that aims to determine the effect of NaOH concentration on the quality of durian skin fibers. The research treatments were variations of NaOH concentration by 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%. The quality-tested were lignin content, air content, ash content, and color (lightness level). Data were analyzed using The Pearson Correlation analysis and continued with The Simple Linear Regression analysis. The results showed that the variation of NaOH concentration had a significant effect on the quality of durian skin fibers. Durian skin fibers has decomposed lignin content of 0% to 20,83%, water content of 7,22% to 15,27%, ash content of 0,46% to 5,87%, and lightness level of 63,3% to 71%. Keywords: Quality of durian skin fibers, NaOH concentration.
