Traffic accidents are one of the third largest causes of death world wide, after heart disease and depression. As many as 3,500 people die every day in the world due to traffic accidents, accidents can be caused due to various factors including, human factors, vehicle factors and environmental factors. This study aimed to determine what factors are the causes of traffic accidents on travel drivers on the Kayuagung-Palembang road by using a sample of 103 people with Cross Sectional study design. The results of the study showed as many as 61 respondents (59.2%) had experienced a traffic accident. Statistical test results showed that the age variable (p-value 0.013), years of service (p-value 0.001), behavior (p-value 0.001), compliance with the law (p-value 0.014), lighting lights (p-value 0.001), vehicle maintenance (p-value 0.002) and road design and layout (p-value 0.001) the results stated that there was a relationship between age, years of service, behavior, compliance with law, vehicle lights, vehicle maintenance, as well as road design and layout on traffic accidents on travel drivers on the Kayuagung-Palembang road. Alcohol used variable (p-value 0.552), vehicle speed limit (p-value 0.8) results indicated there was no relationship between alcohol use and vehicle speed limits on traffic accidents on travel drivers on the Kayuagung-Palembang road. Travel drivers are expected to take preventative measures against factors that cause accidents such as discipline in driving and obeying existing traffic rules. The local government is expected to pay more attention to public facilities that have been provided such as repairing street lighting, and traffic signs.
