PRODUKSI HIDROGEN DARI LIMBAH ALUMINIUM DENGAN AKTIVATOR NATRIUM MENGGUNAKAN METODE ALUMINUM-WATER
Research on the production of hydrogen from aluminum waste with sodium activator using aluminum-water method had been successfully done. This research utilizes the reaction of aluminum using a sodium activator and catalyst. Production of hydrogen using an activator in the form of sodium is carried out with variation of water volume, aluminum particle size, activator mass and temperature. The best conditions in the aluminum-water reaction of 1 g aluminum with sodium activator of 1.5 mL water volume, 7% w/w sodium content, 60 mesh aluminum particle size, and temperature of 25°C. Production of hydrogen gas using sodium activators at the best conditions produces hydrogen gas of 520 mL, while the addition of NaOH catalyst produced hydrogen gas of 862 mL. The highest reaction rate of hydrogen gas production by adding sodium activator to the selected condition is 65 mL/min, while the addition of NaOH as a catalyst is 160 mL/min.
