PRODUKSI METANOL DARI CO2 SECARA REDUKSI ELEKTROKIMIA MENGGUNAKAN MEMBRANE ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY (MEA) DENGAN PEMUATAN KATALIS Cu2O-ZnO/C BERVARIASI
The production of methanol from CO2 by electrochemical reduction using Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) has been carried out with a variation of catalyst loading 1; 1.5; 2 mg/cm2 and variations in mass ratio Cu2O : ZnO (1:1); (1:0.5); (0.5:1). Electrodes on the cathode side are used Cu2O-ZnO/C catalysts while on the anode side in the form of Pt/C. Electrodes are characterised using the Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) method, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) methods. The results of the analysis by CV method produced the highest ECSA value at Cu2O : ZnO = 1:0.5 catalyst mass ratio variation of 853.30 cm2/g while Cu2O-ZnO/C catalyst loading variation was best obtained at 1 mg/cm2 catalyst loading of 1216.69 cm2/g. The results of the analysis by the EIS method produced the highest conductivity value at the variation in the Cu2O : ZnO 1:1 catalyst mass ratio of 5.46 S/cm while the best catalyst loading was 2 mg/cm2 with an electrical conductivity value of 10.27 S/cm. Methanol products resulting from the CO2 conversion process are analyzed using the refractometer as initial identification resulting in the highest percentage at a 1:1 ratio of 2.4%b/b while in the variation of catalyst loading is obtained at a catalyst loading of 1 mg/cm2 of 3.2%b/b. Quantitative analysis of methanol products is carried out using GC-MS, but it is not yet certain because in MS data methanol peaks have not been detected.
