PENGARUH VARIASI TEMPERATUR PREHEATING PADA PENGELASAN SMAW TERHADAP KEKUATAN TARIK BAJA KARBON RENDAH
The method used in this study is an experiment which aims to determine the effect of preheating temperature variations in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) on the tensile strength of low carbon steel ASTM A283 Grade C. There are four specimens used in this study, one specimen without preheating. And three specimens with temperatures of preheating 100ºC, 150ºC and 200ºC. The results of this study were the tensile stress on the specimen without preheating was 274.78 MPa. There was an increase of 42.85 MPa in the specimen preheating 100ºC, so the tensile stress was 317.63 MPa. The increase was 10.2 MPa for the specimen preheating 150ºC, so the tensile stress was 327.83 MPa. There was decrease of 35.69 MPa for the tensile stress on the specimen preheating 200ºC, so the tensile stress was 292.14 MPa. The largest tensile stress was 327.83 MPa in specimens with temperature of preheating 150ºC, and the smallest tensile stress was 274.78 MPa on specimens without preheating. Then the ideal preheating temperature on SMAW for ASTM A283 Grade C is 150ºC.
