PENGARUH WARNA MULSA TERHADAP PENYAKIT DISEBABKAN VIRUS PADA TANAMAN CABAI MERAH KERITING ( Capsicum annum L)
The need of chili continues to increase due to increasing population growth and the development of food production industries requiring greater supply of chili. One way to increase the productivity of the crop is by using superior varieties and application of mulch. By using of appropriate mulch, beside able to suppress weed growth, the mulch also functions to maintain nutrients in the soil and soil moisture. Color of mulch also affects the activity of insects such as whitefly and aphids, and other virus carrying insects. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the color of mulch that vector insects do not like and to determine the extent to which the color of mulch Affects vector insects in influencing the incidence and intensity of diseases caused by viruses. This study was arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 treatments, namely using brown mulch, black mulch, and silver mulch. Each treatment was repeated 7 times. The results showed that the highest production of chili was of those covered with brown mulch. Silver mulch shows the highest incidence of yellow virus disease, while plots covered with black mulch produced the highest incidence of curly viral disease
