INTERAKSI JAMUR ENDOFIT DAN JAMUR TANAH RIZHOSFER TANAMAN AKASIA TERHADAP JAMUR PATOGEN Fusarium oxysporum ASAL AKASIA
Black wattle (Acacia mangium) is one of wattle species commonly used in forest development in Asia and Pacific. This type of wattle grows fast and produces good quality of wood and tolerant to sub optimal soil and environment. One of factors influencing the wattle productivity is less conducive environment, less water, poor fertilizer and pests and diseases disturbances. Fusarium oxysporum is commonly found infecting wattle in nursery and acts as soil borne pathogen causing damping-off disease in the nursery. Control of damping off can be conducted chemically or biologically. However, control of soil borne pathogen using fungicide caused serious negative impact compared to its positive impact, and therefore we need to conduct research on biological control agents able to suppress and reduce the intensity of pathogen infection. This research was conducted using experimental design arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) implementing exploration and virulence test. The exploration was conducted to isolate endophytic fungi from black wattle (Acacia mangium) tissue and its rhizosphere. The isolated fungi ere then identified morphologically. Base on exploration results, there were 3 different antagonistic fungi. Dual culture method was applied to observe the direct interaction between antagonist and pathogenic F. oxysporum in Petri dish. Exploration of wattle rhizosphere resulted in the isolation of 3 different fungal isolates, Trichoderma sp., Penicillium sp. and Aspergillus sp. Trichoderma sp showed lowest score (3) in the interaction with Aspergillus sp. and the highest score (3) when interacted with Trichoderma sp. Percentage of growth inhibition of F. oxysporum under treatment of Penicillium sp. was 10,44%, Aspergillus sp. 5,86% and Trichoderma sp. 13,28%.
