The purposes of this research were (a) to study the factors that influence farmers to apply intercropping of coffee and pepper; (b) to analyze the cost efficiency of the use of inputs in inter-cropping; (c) to calculate the income of inter-cropping of coffee and pepper. This research was carried out in Muara Rungga Village, Pasemah Air Keruh Subdistrict, Empat Lawang Regency. Data were collected in February-March 2020. The method used was a survey method. Sample farmers were drawn using a simple random sampling to include 30 farmers. The criteria for farmers were farmers who carry out inter-cropping of coffee and pepper and the age of coffee and pepper was less than 15 years. The results indicated that the factors influencing farmers to apply intercropping of coffee and pepper were farmers’ experience, farmer age, land area, education, income, and price. Extension was not included due to the absence of extension agents in the plantation sector in Muara Rungga Village. The use of seed in intercropping for coffee was found to be inefficient, whereas land area, fertilizers, pesticides, and labor were not efficient. The use of land, seeds, and pesticides for pepper was inefficient, whereas fertilizer and labor was not efficient. The results also showed that the income from coffee farming was of Rp15.942.040,56 The area of arable per year with a production level of 1.093,33 kilograms per arable area per year and Rp12.802.156,11 hectares per year with a production level of 881,11 kilograms per hectare per year and income for pepper, it is Rp9.645.775,56 per arable area per year with a production level of 421,07 kilograms per arable area per year and Rp9.429.845,83 per hectare per year with a production level of 407,92 kilograms per hectare per year.
