PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS PESERTA DIDIK PADA MATA PELAJARAN SEJARAH KELAS XI DI SMA SRIJAYA NEGARA PALEMBANG
The title of this study was “The Influence of Controversial Issues Learning Model towards Critical Thinking Abilities of the Students in the History Subject of XI Class at SMA Srijaya Negara Palembang”. In this study, the problem studied was whether there was an influence of the Controversial Issues learning model on critical thinking abilities of the students in the History subject of XI class at SMA Srijaya Negara Palembang. This study aimed to know whether there was an influence of the Controversial Issues learning model towards students' critical thinking abilities. This study utilized a quantitative research method, that was experimental type with the sample XI Social 1 class as an experimental class and XI Social 2 class as a control class. Techniques of data collection that were utilized in this study were observation and test. The results of the observation revealed the average of students’ critical thinking abilities in the experimental class had increased 47.78% at the first meeting, 52.78% at the second meeting and 63.89% at the third meeting. On the test results, the average of students’ learning outcomes in the experimental class was 80.16 while the average of the control class was 70.33. Based on the results of hypothesis test using t-test was obtained t_value 2,77 > t_table 1,70113. Therefore, H_a which stated Controversial issues learning model had an influence towards students’ critical thinking abilities in the History subject of XI Class at Srijaya Negara Palembang was accepted.
