This study examines about "Social Mobility of Rubber Farmers Familiy in Cahya Bumi Village Lempuing Subdistrict Ogan Komering Ilir Regency". The problem in this study relates to the form and factor of social mobility that occurs in the family of rubber farmers. The research methods used are qualitative research methods. The determination of informant is done in purposive, the goal to get more detailed information in accordance with the research problem. The research strategy used is case studies. Data collection is done by interview techniques, observations and documentation. The theory used in this research is the social mobility theory of Pitrim Sorokin. The results of this study showed variants of social mobility form in rubber farmer family. For vertical upward type social mobility, the form of mobility is done in the form of increasing income through the diversification of livelihoods, changing the job as a rubber farmer into rubber bosses, buying new vehicles to show economic ability and to school children to college. The form of vertical-downward type of social mobility is to sell rubber plantation because of debt trapped and stuck in installment credit. Then the form of social mobility is horizontal type to wander out the city and open new land in other areas to eliminate saturation in the rubber plantation activity. While social mobility factors caused by community appreciate more to people who have wealth, people respect the educated people because it has the benefit and bright future, the desire to live life with a high standard of lifestyle and try a new job to eliminate boredom working in the rubber plantation.
