The Correlation of Exclusive Breastfeeding and The Incidence of Childhood Pneumonia at Indralaya Public Health Center Ogan Ilir xx + 84 pages, 42 tables, 2 images, 8 attachments ABSTRACT Pneumonia is one of the respiratory diseases in children which is an acute inflectious lung disease. Exclusive breasfeeding that not given can be a risk factor for pneumonia in infants. The purpose of this study was to determined relations of exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of pneumonia in the work area of Indralaya Health Center, Ogan Ilir Regency. This study was an observational with a case control approach. The number of samples in the this study were 56 cases and 112 controls (1:2 comparison). In this research the case group was toddlers aged 7-59 months who had suffered pneumonia in January-December 2019 in the Work Area of Indralaya Health Center, while the control group was toddlers aged 7-59 months who did not suffer from pneumonia in lived around of the infected house. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers (p-value = 0,0001) and the results of multivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of pneumonia (p-value = 0,036) had been controlled with mother behavior variables, nutritional status, smoking habits of family members inside the house, maternal knowledge and the use of mosquito coils (OR = 2,437. 95% CI = 1,062-5,592). The Pregnant and lactating mothers were expected to consume sufficiently nutritious food, provide exclusive breastfeeding, save breast milk for toddler supplies for working mothers, family members who have a smoking habit were expected not to smoke inside the house or got closer to toddlers, replaced the use of mosquito coils, and mothers are expected to often clean the house.
