Heat Strain is a physiological response of the human body when exposed to hot work climate in the form of an increased core body temperature and heart rate, this is a form of effort to release body heat. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of hot work climate on the symptoms of heat strain on tofu producer workers in the Kamboja Area of Palembang City. This study used a cross sectional design. The sampling method was used total sampling with a total sample of 54 people from 6 tofu producers. Data was collected by interview and direct measurement. Questionnaire, heat stress monitor, ear thermometer, and bathroom scale were used as data collection tools. The results showed that there was an effect of hot work climate (p-value: 0.008), age (p-value: 0.014), and drinking water consumption (p-value: 0.002) on the symptoms of heat strain. While there was no effect of working hours (p-value: 0.077) on the symptoms of heat strain. In multivariate analysis, it was found significant effect between hot work climate on the symptoms of heat strain after being controlled by confounding variables (p-value: 0.004; PR: 38.546; 95% CI: 3.170-468.664). Then it can be concluded that the number of workers who has got heat strain symptoms occur along with the high work climate measurement results in all tofu producers. Symptoms of heat strain can be minimized by consuming enough mineral water (≥2.8 liters), adequate work breaks, and supportive spatial planning.
