Fund balance i s one of the national income sources slated in the local government budget. One of the components in fund balance is general allocation fund. The aim of this research was to assess the sensitivity level of general allocation fund which was analyzed using elasticity. The scope and the object of the research were general allocation fund and economic growth in South Sumatra Province. The data of the research were general allocation fund, revenue of local goverment budget, expenditure of local goverment budget, and personnel expenditure in South Sumatra Province in the period of 200-2011. Based on the research findings, it could be concluded thal general allocation fund had good sensitivity level to the economic growth. In other words, general allocation ftind still give good influence and contribution to the economic growth in South Sumatra Province.
