The objective of this study vvas to investigate the performance of the processing and preserving industry of canned fish and other aquatic biota of Indonesia viewed from the value-added, efficiency, and productivity of Iabor and the competitiveness of the products in the world market which were determined by the RCA index of the period of 2001-2011. This study used the secondary data obtained from the National Statistical Office of Indonesia (BPS) and U N Comtrade. The technique of analysis used in this study is descriptive qualitative technique with cross tabulation method. The results of this study indicate that the performance of the industry viewed from the added value was relatively low because the average value added was lower than the average median cost; Viewed from the point of efficiency it tends to be inefficient because the cost of production outweighs the added value obtained; And viewed from the point of Iabor productivity, it tends to be relatively low because the average growth of production is smaller than the average growth of Iabor. The competitiveness of industrial processing and preserving of canned fish and other aquatic biota of Indonesia that are determined by the RCA index shows an increase along with the increasing volume of exports of canned fish and other aquatic biota.
