This study aims to 1) know the development of input value basic metal industry of iron and Steel Indonesia. 2) know the development of efficiency level basic metal industries of iron and Steel Indonesia and 3) know the relationship between input value and efficiency level of basic metals industries of iron and Steel Indonesia. Research results indicate that during the years 1995 — 2006, the input value of basic metals industry of iron and Steel Indonesia tends to increase each year with an average of 13.13 percent annually. whereas the efficiency level of basic metal industry of iron and Steel Indonesia tend to be inefficient with the average value of efficiency of 0.45. relationship between input value and efficiency level of metals industries of iron and Steel tend to negatively. Therefore necessary to reorganization of the economic condition to avoid fluctuations in prices and another economic problems that affect other large use of production inputs, generated added value, and efficiency levels of basic metals industry of iron and Steel.
